IAP Honors Teams with Mission Zero Safety Award
Cape Canaveral, FL — IAP awarded 38 projects worldwide with the Mission Zero Safety Leadership Award for Outstanding Safety Performance and demonstration of Safety Leadership. Each award-winning project worked injury free in 2012 conducting activities ranging from administrative to waste water treatment operations to installing power plants.
When it comes to safety, IAP is considered a world class performer with incident rates 80 percent lower than the Industry standard. Company President J. Spencer “Spence” Wickham said he’s extremely proud of IAP’s award-winning projects for achieving such an important safety milestone. “They make a positive impact on the Company’s overall safety performance contributing to IAP’s competitive advantage.”
Eleven of the award-winning IAP projects received the Mission Zero Safety Leadership Awards for both 2011 and 2012, meaning the projects operated more than 730 days free of a recordable injury. Two of these projects worked more than 1,000 days injury free and received dual safety awards two years in a row, including the National Safety Council (NSC) Perfect Record Award. Five IAP projects earned the NSC Leadership Award from 2008 through 2012, and nine IAP projects earned the NSC Million Work Hours Award from 2008 through 2012.
The company’s Cape Canaveral Headquarters not only earned the IAP Safety Leadership Award, but also the NSC Perfect Record award, NSC Million Work Hours award, and NSC Safety Leader Award. The most remarkable of these honors is the NSC Safety Leader Award, recognizing the Cape Headquarters office for working five years injury free. The Cape Canaveral HQ office has worked more than 2,000 days and more than 2.8 million hours injury free.
IAP Global Director of ES&H Bill Smith noted the importance of safety recognition and awards: “We all know behavior that’s rewarded will be repeated, and positive behavior translates to injury prevention and saves lives. Award and recognition programs can improve performance, boost productivity, increase customer service, and lead to an injury-free workplace.”
